Exploring the entrepreneurial spirit with Giu
From our blog / Article
Giuseppe Coco, known as Giu, brings a distinct blend of technology passion and entrepreneurial flair to his role as Business Lead in consulting. Leading consulting business offering by day and diving into personal projects by night, Giu's entrepreneurial spirit is not just tied to business—it's a way of life. In this edition of Stellar Stories, we delve into Giu's thoughts on entrepreneurship, and the insights he's garnered from the Fusion Stellar program.
For Giu, entrepreneurship has always been a part of his identity, viewing it as a personality trait rather than a profession. He describes entrepreneurship as a force that drives one to work independently and fulfill one’s ambitions regardless of time and space. It’s something that everyone can practice in their day-to-day life, from employeeship to hobbies.
“I don’t know a single entrepreneur whose attitude is indifferent to any of their pursuits. The mindset cuts through all the individual’s aspects of life, whether their status is employee or business owner.”
That being said, Giu is a combination of those both, as he is both an employee and an entrepreneur.
During the day, Giu works as a Business Lead in consulting, but outside office hours, he explores entrepreneurship with part-time business, un poco. Poco is a great example of his knack for turning problems into opportunities: faced with the laborious task of comparing apartment documents during his own home-buying process, Giu developed software to automate data collection from official documents related to purchasing a home. He now sells these easy-to-interpret reports to home buyers.
“Poco has been a good exercise in learning more about running your own business. When a business idea good enough to leave my day job occurs, I would love to become a full-time entrepreneur. My biggest concerns in entrepreneurship are not about the responsibilities of running a business but about finding a business idea that I believe is strong enough to start a company.”
From insight to action through Fusion Stellar’s sessions
The entire program scope resonated with Giu, which made him apply for the Fusion Stellar program. The program’s focus on turning consulting into a scalable business especially intrigued him and was something he wanted to learn more about.
“For me personally, many other businesses than consulting seem more straightforward in terms of how to turn them into a good business. That, in particular, made me fill out the application for Fusion Stellar, as I wanted to learn more about that aspect. Also, knowing that the program was aimed at business leaders who are merited in their own niche promised inspiring conversations and thoughts during the sessions.”
The program gave Giu many new learnings that he can now apply directly to his new leadership role in the consulting landscape. The keynotes also gave him confidence in how he would approach business development if he were to start one himself in one day.
“I often return to Fourkind co-founder Topi Manu’s keynote on harsh truths about business and especially to his thought that in the end, nothing else matters than a well-functioning sales organization. If there’s no sales, there’s no cash flow, and the consultants’ beautiful ideas to create value for the customer stay with them and never realize.”
Beyond the program: Fusion Stellar’s alumni network
Giu’s key takeaway from the program is a reminder that entrepreneurship is rarely a walk in the park, especially founding a consulting business, but it’s not an impossible endeavor. Problems can be solved one at a time to gradually become better, instead of aiming for the moon right away.
The other highlight for Giu was the breaks during the sessions and, more importantly, the dinners after the first and last sessions, where program participants had the time to debrief the keynotes and gained insights—and get to know each other in an informal setting.
“The dinners alone would not have been enough for such meaningful conversations, as the program content gave birth to totally new chains of thoughts for everyone. Going through these chains together with the other participants and learning from the real-life experiences shared with each other were definitely the cherry on top of the program for me.”
If Giu could go back in time, he would participate in the program again with no hesitation.
“I encourage Fusion Ecosystem to continue with the Stellar program as its value is much greater than the astonishing keynotes alone. I’m also looking forward to continuing to share insights with the brilliant business leaders this program has brought together.”
