In Fadumo Ali‘s vocabulary, there probably aren’t words like difficulty or obstacle; there are only things to be encountered and solved.
Founded by Fadumo, Hoiwa offers a platform through which healthcare workers can choose shifts they prefer, from their desired areas, and receive a better salary than they would working for the public sector. Payment is processed immediately after the shift ends, and workers can choose to work as much as they desire.
In the public sector, women’s salaries are at rock bottom, but companies like Hoiwa offer an alternative.
As a former caregiver, Fadumo herself saw the challenges of managing care work, the conditions, and the compensation, and decided to address them.
In four years, Hoiwa has grown to nearly €10 million in revenue, employing over 7000 caregivers. Currently, Hoiwa is expanding internationally.
