AI-Powered Tool at the Core of Advancing Pay Equity – Innovation by Finnish Experts
From our blog / Article
Fairness & Friends, a rewards company, and technology company Reaktor are developing a new AI-powered rewards tool. This jointly developed tool will support rewards and HR professionals with becoming compliant with the Pay Transparency Directive, while promoting a fairer and more transparent working life.

As pay transparency increases, the quality of data is at the core
Changes in regulation and increasing competition for talent are placing new demands on companies to develop their compensation and reward practices. Companies must better understand their current situation and improve compensation to meet both regulatory and labor market expectations.
The Pay Transparency Directive, which is currently one of the most discussed topics in the field of rewards, requires organizations to analyze and report their salary data in more detail. As the level of reporting detail increases, we are also becoming aware that unexplained pay gaps remain a persistent problem in many workplaces. While progress has been made, achieving pay equity at the societal level has been slow.
At an organizational level, unexplained pay gaps create feelings of injustice, reduce job satisfaction, and can even jeopardize a company’s competitiveness—particularly from an employer branding perspective. High-quality salary data is the foundation of all analysis and the development of fair compensation.
Tackling Complex Problems Together
At Fairness & Friends, we have had a long-term ambition to build a tool that genuinely makes working with rewards cases less problematic. We want to meet the reporting needs and increase the reliability of data. Language models open new ways to structure informal documents and create a solid foundation for analysis and planning. The tool we are developing together is a great example of how technological expertise and deep knowledge of the subject area can successfully be combined.
Thus, we, the founding partners of Fairness & Friends, Minna Nylander and Sanni Karikoski, could not be more excited about this collaboration where Reaktor became a shareholder of Fairness & Friends through the Fusion Ecosystem.
The fact that we feel that we are working on the right things with the right people is incredibly important when building something new in a field as established as rewards is today.
